ABOUT APEX PILATES

APEX-PILATES_edited.png

Apex Pilates is a local, family-run Pilates studio located in Morisset - on the border of the Central Coast and Lake Macquarie. Founded by husband-and-wife duo Tristan and Rebecca, Apex was created from a genuine love of Pilates and a desire to bring expertly guided Reformer and Studio Pilates to the Morisset community.

Our Yambo Street studio opened in January 2023, becoming Morisset’s first fully equipped Reformer and Studio Pilates space in the heart of the town centre. In 2024, we expanded to our Accolade Avenue studio, giving us more room to offer a wider range of class styles, greater variety, and more session times - creating even more value for our clients.

From day one, our goal has been to create an inclusive boutique studio where everyone feels welcome - whether you’re brand new to Pilates or looking to deepen your practice. We believe Pilates should feel supportive, empowering, and achievable, no matter your starting point.

Our instructors are dedicated to delivering Pilates and movement in a way that’s safe, expertly guided, and still exciting. We want your time in the studio to become part of your self-care routine - a place you can step away from the busyness of life, reset your mind, build strength, and work towards your goals with purpose.

Pilates has been part of our lives for over a decade, and it’s a passion we love sharing with our community - from first-timers to our long-term clients.

We can’t wait to meet you and welcome you into the Apex Pilates studio.

Rebecca

Director &
Business Manager

Rebecca is a busy mama, Pilates-lover and handles all things business at Apex Pilates. With a background in performing arts and degree in Communications, she’s always up for a chat. When she’s not handling our Apex Pilates business, admin and socials, you’ll find her cooking up yummy wholesome food or out in the sunshine exploring with Tristan and their three little ones. After many years of dance training through her childhood and teens, Rebecca experienced a severe ankle injury that required a lot of physio and rehab. Although physio allowed her to walk normally again, she was still struggling with ankle and knee pain during exercise. Many of her dancer friends swore by Pilates, especially for injury rehab. Once she started studio Pilates sessions, slowly but surely, she was able to exercise without pain, recover her strength and flexibility and find a form of exercise that felt as comfortable to her as dance. She loves how Pilates feels mindful and rejuvenating for the body. It has helped her through three pregnancies and post-partum and is the only exercise that leaves her feeling energised rather than exhausted.

Darcie

Pilates Instructor

With a lifelong love of movement, Darcie’s journey to becoming a Pilates instructor began through a strong foundation in dance. This background shaped her deep appreciation for body awareness, control, and the artistry of movement. After years working as a flight attendant, the long hours on her feet, repetitive motion, and physical demands of travel began to take a toll on her body. It was during this time that Darcie discovered Pilates - a practice that not only supported her recovery, but also helped her build strength, balance, and alignment while complementing her dance training. Inspired by the impact Pilates had on her own body, Darcie was drawn to teaching so she could share that same experience with others. She is passionate about helping clients feel stronger and more confident in their movement, whether they’re recovering from injury, improving performance, or simply wanting to move and feel better in everyday life. With a genuine love for fitness and training, becoming a Pilates instructor was the perfect way for Darcie to bring all of her passions together.

Jo

Yoga & Pilates Instructor

Jo was drawn to yoga after many years of running, when her lower back finally said ‘enough’. The strength in holding poses and flowing with breath, not necessarily fast, brought a sense of peace. Jo then discovered Yin yoga where she relished in holding a pose, or melting to the earth knowing, ‘I have nothing to do, nowhere to go but breathe’. She found this style enlightening and soothing whilst still feeling strong, a release after movement. Jo’s classes encourage body and breath awareness for a mindful practice. Her yoga classes also incorporate elements of the Pilates principles, encouraging core engagement and alignment, while moving steadily. Jo’s Yin Yang classes have movement with breath for strength and balance, as well as stillness to stretch and stimulate connective tissue. The practice encourages you to listen to your body when either moving or still, allowing your breath to be calm which can help find peace in this often crazy and busy world. When she is not teaching, Jo relaxes by walking in the sunshine, especially at the beach with family, including her fur babies and loves a flat white coffee. She is always furthering her practice and training, for her own evolution and the benefit of her many loyal clients who she hopes find strength ad calm, both on and off the mat.
