Apex Pilates is a local family-run Pilates studio located in Morisset; at the border of the Central Coast and Lake Macquarie. Founded by husband-and-wife duo Tristan and Rebecca, we wanted to share reformer and studio Pilates with the Morisset community.

Yambo Street studio opened in January 2023 becoming the first fully equipped reformer & studio Pilates a space in the heart of Morisset town centre.

We wanted to create an inclusive boutique studio, where even clients with no Pilates experience would feel comfortable and supported to incorporate Pilates into their lifestyle.

Our instructors are dedicated to delivering movement & Pilates in a safe but exciting way. We want movement to become part of your self-care ritual; a place you go throughout your busy week to unwind, focus on yourself, set and achieve your goals and move your body mindfully.
We believe that exercise should be a celebration of what your body can do and a tool to be your best self, rather than a punishment or routine that you feel slave to.
Pilates has been part of our lives for over a decade now and is something we are passionate about sharing with anyone it might benefit, from our friends and family to our valued long-term clients.
We look forward to meeting you and sharing our passion for Pilates!

Rebecca
Director &
Business Manager
Rebecca is a busy mama, Pilates-lover and handles all things business at Apex Pilates. With a background in performing arts and degree in Communications, she’s always up for a chat. When she’s not handling our Apex Pilates business, admin and socials, you’ll find her cooking up yummy wholesome food or out in the sunshine exploring with Tristan and their three little ones (often with some Sam Cooke on in the background). After many years of dance training through her childhood and teens, Rebecca experienced a severe ankle injury that required a lot of physio and rehab. Although physio allowed her to walk normally again, she was still struggling with ankle and knee pain during exercise. Many of her dancer friends swore by Pilates, especially for injury rehab. Once she started studio Pilates sessions, slowly but surely, she was able to exercise without pain, recover her strength and flexibility and find a form of exercise that felt as comfortable to her as dance. She loves how Pilates feels mindful and rejuvenating for the body. It has helped her through three pregnancies and post-partum and is the only exercise that leaves her feeling energised rather than exhausted.

Yolanda
Pilates Instructor
Yolanda loves to share her passion for Pilates with clients. She focuses on teaching alignment and can cater for a range of ability levels; aways providing modifications or extensions for clients. Yolanda has had the opportunity to learn how to use all of the Pilates equipment to help clients move their bodies and now gets to share this passion with clients on a daily basis. She has experience in studio, clinical, teaching mat, reformer and barre. She has an Integrated diploma of Contemporary Pilates and teaching methodology, Certificate IV in teaching and assessment and certificate in Barre teaching. Yolanda also has experience in studio management. Before making instructing a full-time career, Yolanda was an expert in juggling a few careers at once, being an assistant principal and primary school teacher for over 10 years. Student coordinator and facilitator for Tensegrity Training for Newcastle and the Central Coast and teaching Pilates in various studios across Newcastle and the Central Coast. When she’s not teaching, you can find Yolanda continuing her knowledge and skills in further education, napping, reading, going for walks in nature, dancing or participating in a Pilates class. Yolanda is known for her authentic and positive energy and teaching style. She focuses on alignment and the Pilates key principles. Clients know they can count on Yol to explain why an exercise is good for you, sharing something new she has learnt or read, for the subtle burn and the occasional cue that comes out backwards or saying ‘just another 6’!

With a passion for holistic health and developing herself in this realm, Danica holds a Diploma in Metaphysical Healing and is a Reiki Master Practitioner.

Emily
Pilates, Barre & Yoga Instructor
Emily is the mother of two beautiful little humans, and deeply loves Movement and the Breath. She is a certified Bikram, Vinyasa, Yin, Pregnancy/Postnatal Yoga, Pranayama and Pilates teacher. Emily has been teaching and practicing for 15 years. Emily found Yoga following the unexpected passing away of her Dad in 2009. She found that Yoga pulled her out of the heaviness of grief, into a lifelong journey towards joy, peace and acceptance. For Emily, Movement is about coming together - the delicate dance of connections. The balance between strength and flexibility, exertion and stillness and the overwhelming bliss of truly being able to let go. Creating mastery over the physical to provide stability for the mind and spirit to expand. Finding the bridge between your breath and everything life has to offer. She loves inviting her students to move, sweat, breathe, connect and release alongside her.

Jo
Yoga Instructor
Jo was drawn to yoga after many years of running, when her lower back finally said ‘enough’. The strength in holding poses and flowing with breath, not necessarily fast, brought a sense of peace. Jo then discovered Yin yoga where she relished in holding a pose, or melting to the earth knowing, ‘I have nothing to do, nowhere to go but breathe’. She found this style enlightening and soothing whilst still feeling strong, a release after movement. Jo’s classes encourage body and breath awareness for a mindful practice. Her yoga classes also incorporate elements of the Pilates principles, encouraging core engagement and alignment, while moving steadily. Jo’s Yin Yang classes have movement with breath for strength and balance, as well as stillness to stretch and stimulate connective tissue. The practice encourages you to listen to your body when either moving or still, allowing your breath to be calm which can help find peace in this often crazy and busy world. When she is not teaching, Jo relaxes by walking in the sunshine, especially at the beach with family, including her fur babies and loves a flat white coffee. She is always furthering her practice and training, for her own evolution and the benefit of her many loyal clients who she hopes find strength ad calm, both on and off the mat.
